Personal Project: 'Through the Ages...' Music Poster series

During the second semester, we were allowed to conceptualise our own briefs. The first of these personal projects was to create a poster series inspired by influential albums from 6 different decades, with these albums being the following:

1970 - Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
1980 - Master of Puppets by Metallica
1990 - Rage Against the Machine by Rage Against the Machine
2000 - Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
2010 - Stef Lynn by Stef Lynn
2020 - 100 Dni do Matury by Mata

The final set of posters that I've created for this project have a consistent visual language that links the full series together. I'm very happy with the way in which I have visualised these posters both by including original elements from the albums artwork and additional elements that I included to reinforce certain themes or design choices.

Alternative designs for some of the posters.

During the design process for these posters, I started off trying to include the track listing in each poster design. I decided against including this in the final set due to it not adding much to the design while also needlessly cluttering up the typographical composition of the poster.
After removing this, I wanted to focus on a more minimal design approach by having it be a main image that represents the album in conjunction with appropriate album and band name typography.
